TriVo
TriVo is Dawn Pemberton, Brian Tate, and Karla Mundy--a dynamic and versatile vocal trio that brings to life music from many cultures and traditions around the globe. From the music of West Africa to Southern Bluegrass, Bach to Bebop, Cuban chants to Gospel shouts, the vocal artistry of Trivo thrills and delights audiences of all ages.
HEAD FULL OF VOICES
With this project, Brian is a one-man band, choir, and orchestra. He augments his solo voice with electronics (the Boss RC-30 Loop Station) that allows him, while on stage, to record and overlap a multitude of vocal tracks, all in real time. He explores the full depth and range of the human voice, creating drum kit and percussion tracks, bass lines, horn sections and other effects, all with his own voice.
Equally at home with folk, jazz, classical, and world music, Brian's eclectic repertoire includes Canadian, Celtic, and world folk/roots music; jazz, blues, and funk by John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and others; J.S. Bach, Buddhist chants, and West African rhythms. Brian also uses the looping technology in free and structured improvisation, creating multi-layered journeys of sound. He uses no prerecorded tracks or other instrumentation of any kind: every note is created live, in the moment. | Photo courtesy of Event Solutions/Michael Gold and Jazz Impact
